The village of Stanley lies just 6 miles north of Perth in central Scotland. Stanley exists because of the mill on the bank of the River Tay, the 1st water powered ones in Scotland during the industrial revolution. The village is home to some 2,000 people and has all the essential shops including a newsagent, post office and pharmacy. Perth "The Fair City" is regarded as being the centre of Scotland and is home to a regular arts festival as well as regular race meetings. Scone Palace, the traditional crowning place of Scottish monarchs, is within easy driving distance. St. Andrews and Edinburgh are within an hour's drive, with Pitlochry and Dunkeld to the north within 30 minutes' drive, offering fantastic views over the Rivers Tay and Tummel.
